A set of four RBK-250 cluster bombs in the form with PTAB-2.5M submunitions, in 1:32 scale. This is a resin, or rather 3D-printed, armament accessory intended to be hung under the wing or the fuselage of an aircraft model. It is not a model of an aircraft and not a kit.
RBK-250 is the designation for a cluster container of Soviet design in a weight class corresponding to roughly 250 kilograms. The container does not carry a single charge but a set of small submunitions that are released once the body opens. The PTAB-2.5M addition in the designation refers to armor-piercing submunitions. For a modeler what matters above all is the shape of the body and the tail fins, because the individual forms of the same weight class differ outwardly, and so does the look of the stores.
Separate the parts from the casting block with a fine saw, supporting long bodies while cutting. Level the cut with a file, wash the whole part in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry, or the paint will not sit evenly. Sanding is done wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). With four pieces on one set of stores, watch for the same height and angle of all the bodies relative to the pylons; asymmetrical stores spoil the impression more than a missing detail. Paint over a primer and leave the surface matte or satin. Handle the colored bands and lettering with a narrow mask, as a brush stroke by hand on a rounded body rarely comes out straight.
