Lewis Mk.I Early Aviation Type 1:32 (GasPatch Models) is a resin pair of early Lewis aircraft machine guns with a cooling jacket in the larger 1:32 scale, for superdetailing.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set that captures the British Lewis Mk.I aircraft machine gun in its early aircraft form with the complete cooling jacket, faithfully in 1:32 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for superdetailing. The package holds a pair, two resin castings; the larger scale allows even finer rendering of the detail.
The Lewis was a British light machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber (.303 British) with a characteristic pan magazine on top, widely used in the First World War as the aircraft observer's flexible weapon. Cooling was provided by an aluminum finned radiator around the barrel enclosed in a tubular jacket, which is retained in this form.
The version matches the early aircraft type with the full cylindrical jacket. In 1:32 scale it suits large biplane models, where the weapons are a prominent visual feature of the pilot's and the observer's position.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent residue, separate the casting blocks carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. In a large scale the texture of the jacket comes out well with a dark metal base, a fine dry brush and a discreet patina.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
