A turned 122 mm D-25S barrel for the SU-102 in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber. A metal replacement for the plastic part with no mold seam and with an exact muzzle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel of the Soviet 122 mm gun in the D-25S version, in 1:35 scale, meant for the SU-102 self-propelled gun. It replaces the plastic barrel from a kit and removes two long-standing problems: the mold seam and an imperfectly glued, slightly bent axis. The metal also gives a long barrel real weight.
The SU-102 was a Soviet experimental self-propelled gun developed at the end of the Second World War on a chassis derived from a medium tank. It never reached production, but it belongs to the group of machines that attract modelers precisely because so little is known about them. The D-25S gun was the self-propelled counterpart of the heavy 122 mm weapon carried, among others, by the IS-2 tank.
Degrease the metal, try the barrel dry in the mantlet and glue it with cyanoacrylate or epoxy. Apply a primer to the metal, otherwise the finish rubs off. Soviet green looks better when you play with it: a base, a lighter cast on the horizontal surfaces and a darker one in the shadows. Darken the muzzle of the barrel and pick the transition to the muzzle brake out with a dry brush.
This is an accessory for a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
