A set of photo-etched parts for completing a model of the German Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D half-track armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale. According to the name this is the basic set, that is, the first part of a multi-part range.

The Sd.Kfz. 251 was a German half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War. The 251/1 version carried infantry and was the most widespread of the whole family of derived types. The letter D marks the late production variant with a simplified body: straight sides without a break, a simplified rear and stowage bins built into the sides of the superstructure. It was this form that accompanied the armored units in the last years of the war, and it is also the one that turns up most often on models.
Photo-etched metal parts intended to complete the plastic kit of this vehicle. The designation as the basic set and the note that it is the first part of the range suggest that further sets follow on from it, each aimed at a narrower group of details. The exact list of parts, and the kit the photo-etched sheet is cut to fit, are given in the manufacturer's instructions; check them before you start building.
Separate the parts from the photo-etched sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface rather than breaking them out, otherwise the thin metal will twist. Make the bends over a bending tool or over a metal ruler, always along the whole length at once. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a very small amount. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer, otherwise the finish rubs off the smooth surface easily.
