A turned metal part in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It replaces the plastic barrel of the Soviet 14.5 mm KPVT heavy machine gun, that is, the tank version of the large-caliber machine gun. This is a detail accessory for a plastic model, not a kit in its own right.
The large-caliber machine gun of 14.5 mm is among the most widespread Soviet weapons of the postwar era. In the version designated the KPVT it was mounted in the turrets of armored personnel carriers and reconnaissance vehicles, where it served against lightly armored targets, firing positions and air targets at low altitude. The weapon is unmistakable for its long barrel in a perforated cooling jacket, whose fine openings can hardly be captured in injected plastic, so a turned metal part is one of the most visible improvements to a model.
Cut off the plastic barrel as close to the mantlet as possible and level the cut, so that the turned part seats squarely. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen it lightly; glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a primer suitable for metals onto the metal, or the paint will hold poorly. The muzzle of the barrel is drilled, so it pays to pick it out only gently with a dark wash after spraying.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
