A complete set of turned metal barrels in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber for a model of the British Mk.V heavy tank in the Male version. It holds two barrels for the 57 mm 6-pounder gun that went into the side sponsons and four barrels for the 8 mm Hotchkiss model 1909 machine gun. It is not a model of the vehicle but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic barrels and gives the build a hollow muzzle and a more accurate profile.
The Mk.V tank belonged to the final generation of British rhomboid tanks of the First World War. The Male version carried two 57 mm guns in its side sponsons, called 6-pounders in the practice of the day, backed by several machine guns. Against the Female version, armed with machine guns only, it therefore had a far greater ability to destroy fortified targets. The Mk.V was easier to handle than the older types because it had its own gearbox, which let a single man steer it.
Cut off the plastic barrels in the sponsons as well as the machine gun barrels, open out the holes and level the mating surfaces. On the guns, check dry that both barrels come out symmetrically. Degrease the metal and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue, and use a primer for metal surfaces for painting. British First World War vehicles tend to be painted a muted brown-green, which suits heavy mud on the lower part and traces of corrosion on unprotected surfaces.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
