This blank advertising board (Werbetafel) and street sign from the manufacturer MAiM is the most versatile piece of the whole range of billboards in 1:35 scale: no preprinted text, no set period. You add the content yourself, and that is exactly what makes it a prop that adapts to any scene.

Use in a diorama

The blank surface can be treated in many ways: papered with a decal or a printed poster, hand-painted with your own lettering in any language, left faded and chipped as an abandoned advertisement, or layered with torn remnants of old posters. That makes the board work in an American diner just as well as in a Central European lane, in a modern scene and in a post-apocalyptic world. It is also a natural companion to the lettered billboards of the same MAiM range if you are building a whole street.

Tips for working it

Clean the casting and prime it. If you want to apply your own graphics, create a smooth gloss surface, because a decal will then adhere without silvering and you fix it with a matte clear coat. Glue a paper poster on with thinned white glue and leave the edges slightly lifted. You create the effect of torn layers by gluing and tearing scraps in stages.
