The bunk bed from the manufacturer MAiM is a diorama prop in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of a vehicle but a piece of furniture that tells a story at once: where the crew sleeps, who lives here, how long they have been here. It is exactly interior details of this kind that move a scene from a static base to a living setting.
A bunk bed naturally suits military quarters and barracks, field accommodation, civil defense shelters, workers' hostels and post-apocalyptic shelters. It works superbly in a cutaway building or in an open room of a diorama, where the viewer looks inside; combined with figures in 1:35 scale it creates a believable living scene. Several pieces side by side turn a room into a mass dormitory.
Clean the casting up, wash it and give it a coat of primer. The frame comes out well in a metal color with small scuffs and hints of rust, or in a muted military green or gray to suit the setting of the scene. A wash will bring out the joints of the structure and a dry brush the edges. Blankets, mattresses or personal belongings can be added from modeling putty, taking the story of the scene down to the detail.
It is supplied as an unpainted casting to be cleaned up and painted. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
