A set of photo-etched metal and resin parts from which you build one anti-tank obstacle, the so-called hedgehog, in 1:35 scale. It is an accessory for a diorama or for a base next to a model of a vehicle, not a standalone model of equipment. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
An anti-tank hedgehog is a simple static obstacle welded from three steel sections arranged so that the structure stands in any position and cannot easily be driven over or pushed aside. It was used to close off roads and to channel the movement of vehicles. The structure is a purely technical matter, formed by beams, a connecting plate and riveted or bolted joints.
A hedgehog built from plastic rods has neither the correct section nor a realistic thickness of material. Photo-etched metal a few tenths of a millimeter thick makes it possible to put together beams with the correct cross section and to add fine detail of the joints, including the heads of the fasteners at a realistic diameter. The resulting obstacle is thin, crisp and does not look like a simplified imitation when seen close up.
Separate the parts with a scalpel and bend them in a photo-etch bending tool, so that the section holds its shape. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; it is advisable to secure the joints in a jig until the glue has dried. Degrease the metal and spray on a base for metal surfaces. For a faithful look, a dark base works well, over it a coat of paint corresponding to the material used and finally a fine accent of the edges and a suggestion of corrosion with pigments or a wash. Pigments are loose, so do not inhale them while working.
The set is an accessory for a diorama, not a model of a vehicle. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
