This photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:35 scale adds tire chains to a model of the German Mercedes-Benz G4 staff car. The chains give the vehicle a convincing winter or off-road look and replace coarse plastic imitations with a fine metal rendering. It is not a standalone model but an upgrade accessory for a plastic kit.
The Mercedes-Benz G4 was a German heavy off-road car with three axles, used in the 1930s and 1940s above all as a representational and command car. Tire chains improved the mobility of the vehicle in mud and snow.
Separate the fine photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface; a bending tool makes shaping along the etched grooves easier. Wrap the chain around the tire and fix it with cyanoacrylate glue. Once painted, the chains come out well with a dry brush in a metallic shade and with mud-effect weathering.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. The base model, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
