Exhaust holders for the Panther Ausf. D, early Ausf. A and G and the Jagdpanther G1 and G2 is a photo-etched detailing set in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It replaces the coarse plastic mounts of the exhaust pipes at the rear of the vehicle.

A photo-etched detailing set, not a vehicle kit. It holds the clamps and holders of the exhaust pipes on the rear plate of the hull, in the versions matching the Panther Ausf. D, the early forms of the Ausf. A and Ausf. G and the Jagdpanther G1 and G2 tank destroyers of the early series. Aber is a Polish maker focused on photo-etched brass parts whose thickness corresponds to real sheet metal, unlike plastic parts, which have to be many times thicker because of the injection molding process.
On the Panther and the Jagdpanther the rear plate of the hull is one of the most closely watched places on a model: the pair of vertical exhausts, their clamps, the guard plates and the shields are visible from every angle and the way they are done says a great deal about the care taken over the build. Thin photo-etched brass can capture the clips, the bolts and the outlines of the holders in a way a plastic casting cannot. The set also respects the differences between the individual versions, so you can pick the form matching the variant you are building.
Cut the parts out with photo-etch scissors or a scalpel on a hard surface; never break them out. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two blades, so that the edge is sharp. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, and on larger surfaces a gel version with more time to adjust the position helps. Degrease the brass before painting and use a primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint holds badly. The exhausts themselves will then take rust shades built up with pigments and a dark wash very well.
