A fire barrel in 1:35 scale from MAiM is an iconic prop of night and post-apocalyptic scenes, a scorched drum around which figures naturally gather.
Responsibility details are not available.
A diorama prop in 1:35 scale: the metal drum used for burning a fire, known from urban corners, building sites and post-apocalyptic stories. Few props can create the focus of a scene so easily, both literally and in composition. It is supplied as an unpainted casting to be cleaned up and painted.
A fire barrel is the natural center of a composition: stand two or three figures around it with their hands out and you have a complete story of a cold night. It belongs in post-apocalyptic camps of survivors, at the edges of a building site, under a city bridge and among war-damaged buildings, where a patrol warms itself by it. It works superbly in night vignettes, and advanced modelers can add a small light from below and let the inside of the drum glow. The 1:35 scale sits well with ordinary vehicles and figures.
The basis is a rusty surface ruined by use: a dark metal base, layered rust shades laid on with a sponge and pigments. Treat the upper rim and the inside with matte black and traces of ash, and a dry brush in light gray will suggest the burnt-out contents. You achieve the effect of heat with a gentle transition of orange and yellow at the mouth of the drum; if you like, add small charred remains of wood from your own supplies.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and lighting are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
