The manufacturer is Modelcollect, and the model falls into its Fist of War range, which is devoted to hypothetical designs derived from German development programs of the end of the Second World War. By its designation this is the form with additional side armor, that is with plates covering the upper part of the running gear. The kit is supplied to be glued and painted.
The designation E60 is not among the documented German projects, and it is not a machine that was ever built. It refers to the program of the so-called E series, whose purpose was to replace a fragmented production with a few standardized weight classes of tracked chassis with shared components and with a drive arrangement that was meant to simplify both manufacture and maintenance. Of the whole program only a minimum of types reached tangible form. The model therefore captures a design idea in the spirit of that program: a heavy tracked chassis, a rotating turret with a 12.8 cm gun and side skirts protecting the upper part of the running gear. The build is therefore best approached as a modeling subject, not as a reconstruction of an existing vehicle.
Finish and paint the running gear and the inside of the hull before you close the hull up — once it is glued you will no longer reach them. Fit the additional side plates at the end, so that they do not get in the way while the wheels and tracks are being aligned. Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic, which wicks into the joint. Apply a primer before painting and spray the base shade with an airbrush in thin layers, so that the edges and the engraving stay visible. Build the patina up gradually: a dark wash into the recesses and around the rivets, then a dry brush on the edges and finally pigments for mud and dust deposits around the running gear and under the skirts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
