Floor tiling in 1:35 scale for building dioramas. A pattern for the floor of an interior, a yard or a demolished building.
Responsibility details are not available.
The floor tends to be the largest continuous area on a diorama and at the same time the one the viewer notices first, because the model stands on it. Regular tiling moreover works as a scale: from the size of the tiles the eye estimates the dimensions of the whole scene. Drawing the joints by hand is a lengthy business and every stroke that slips shows in the result, so a ready-made pattern saves a great deal of time.
The set offers a motif of floor tiling worked out for 1:35 scale. It is used as the surface of a floor, whether that is the interior of a house, a workshop, a yard or what is left of the floor in a demolished building.
Prepare the undercoat flat and hard; every unevenness gives itself away on a smooth area. Trace the dimensions of the room first and only then cut, and make the cut with a sharp blade along a rule on a cutting mat. Glue from the bottom up, in sections, so that no air bubbles remain. Then coat the result with a thin glaze and apply thinned dark paint into the joints, so that the tiling does not look like a uniform area. In the corners and along the walls leave the joints dirtier than in the middle of the room; that is where dirt stays longest. A missing tile cut out here and there does more for believability than all the rest of the work.
The accessory suits builders of dioramas, vignettes and display case scenes who need to settle a floor quickly and convincingly. The package holds this accessory only; a base, a model, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
