A floor motif of tiling in 1:35 scale for building dioramas. It serves as a ready-made interior base under figures and machinery.
Responsibility details are not available.
The floor decides whether a diorama looks like a scene or merely like a model built on a board. Tiling is one of the most laborious surfaces at that: the pattern repeats, the joints have to be regular and any inaccuracy shows at first glance. A ready-made floor motif cuts that work down to laying it and cleaning up the edges.
It is a tiled floor motif in 1:35 scale, that is in the most widespread scale for figures and military machinery. The size of the area, the number of pieces and the recommended way of fixing are stated in the manufacturer's instructions; they will also tell you how much area you need for a diorama.
The undercoat has to be flat and clean, otherwise every unevenness will print through into the surface. Mark the layout out dry first and only then fix anything, and bear in mind where the figures and where the machinery will stand. Make the cuts with a sharp blade along a rule and preferably in several shallow strokes rather than one. Choose the surface finish, the patinating and the glue according to the material of the part and the manufacturer's instructions and always try the procedure on an offcut first, not on the finished area. Concentrate deposits of dust and dirt by the walls and in the corners, where dirt holds on in reality too.
It suits builders of dioramas and display cases who want to create an interior in 1:35 scale without the lengthy marking out of tiling. Figures, machinery, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
