Tiling has a regular grid and it is therefore unforgiving in a scene: unequal spacing or twisted joints are noticed even by a viewer who knows nothing about modeling. At the same time tiling is the quiet scale of a whole scene, because the eye compares the size of a tile with a figure and immediately forms an idea of the dimensions of the room. A ready-made area keeps the grid accurate along its whole length.
A sheet motif of floor tiling for dioramas and vignettes in 1:35 scale. The pattern of the tiles, the size of the area, the number of pieces and the form can be found on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions.
Begin the layout from the edge that will be most in view and carry on from there toward the back; the row that is cut short then stays at the back by the wall, where furniture or rubble will cover it. Lay the area dry, mark it out and make the cuts with a sharp blade along a rule in several shallow strokes. The undercoat has to be flat and degreased and the area has to be pressed down as a whole, so that no bubble rises. The way scenic accessories are fixed differs according to the form, so follow the manufacturer's instructions and do not soak the area until you have checked that it will take it. The look of tiling is livened up by a darker shade in the joints and a slight variation between individual tiles; a perfectly uniform field looks machine-made.
The accessory will be appreciated by builders of interior dioramas and vignettes in 1:35 scale who want a regular floor without laborious marking out.
A base, walls, figures, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
