A painting accessory, not a kit. The masks stick straight onto the wheel and separate the tire from the face of the rim, so you can spray the two parts separately and with a sharp edge. The set is cut for the wheels from the 1:35 scale light staff car kit by Bronco.
There is a wide choice of accessories for kits, and wheel masks hold a particular place among them for three reasons. First, they deal with a part of the model that is visible on the finished result practically always — the wheels sit at eye level and the viewer compares them with one another, unlike an interior or an engine, nine tenths of which disappear once the build is closed up. Second, they take over the least rewarding operation in the whole of painting: lining a circular border on several wheels so that they all look the same is something few people manage, and an hour spent on touch-ups tends to be the most tiresome of the entire build. Third, they call for no new skill and no extra tool — anyone who can apply masking tape can handle this set. The amount of visible quality they add for the work they take is therefore greater than with most photo-etched and resin parts, and the result is consistent across every wheel on the vehicle.
Prime the wheel, press the mask down all the way around and spray thin coats square from above. Remove the mask once the paint has flashed off. Store the sheet flat, away from dust and direct light.
