This is a precisely turned metal barrel with a separate turned muzzle, not a vehicle kit. The set replaces the plastic barrel in a base model and brings a perfectly concentric tube with the correct taper and thin muzzle walls, which cannot be achieved in plastic. The maker is the Polish brand Aber, scale 1:35.

The real subject

The 105 mm leichte Feldhaubitze 18 (light field howitzer) was the standard German light field howitzer of the Second World War. In the self-propelled Sturmhaubitze 42, the shortened L/28 version was fitted into the hull of an assault gun on the StuG III chassis and served for direct fire support of the infantry. Early examples differed in the details of the muzzle and of the barrel mounting.

Use and fitting

• Cut off the plastic barrel and clean up the seat in the mantlet.
• Glue the metal parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• Degrease before painting, then prime with a primer suitable for metal.
