A photo-etched set for the German 2.8 cm heavy anti-tank rifle in 1:35 scale from Aber. An accessory for a kit, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set in 1:35 scale for a model of the German 2.8 cm sPzB 41 heavy anti-tank rifle. According to the maker's data it also contains parts for the Sd.Kfz. 250 and 251 half-track vehicles on which the weapon was carried. This is not a kit but a set of thin metal parts with which the plastic shields, brackets and grab handles are replaced on the model.
The 2.8 cm sPzB 41 worked on the principle of a tapered barrel that narrowed from the chamber toward the end. The projectile was squeezed as it went and left the barrel at an unusually high velocity, so a small caliber was able to punch through armor that an ordinary gun of the same caliber could not manage. The drawbacks were the short life of the barrel and the consumption of tungsten, so production was eventually stopped. The weapon was used by airborne and reconnaissance units and it was also mounted on half-tracks.
Cut photo-etched sheet on a hard surface with sharp etch scissors or a scalpel, and never break a part out. Make the bends in a bending tool or at least between two blades, so that the edge is sharp and in the right place. Degrease the parts with alcohol, glue them with super glue, that is with cyanoacrylate, and apply primer to the metal, otherwise the paint will not hold. Check the thin shield of the weapon against the light after bending, to see whether a wave has been left anywhere.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
