Aber 1:35 280 mm R. Gr. 4341 rocket-assisted shells for the Leopold railway gun is a set of turned metal ammunition from the Polish maker Aber for models of the German K5(E) railway gun in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of turned metal ammunition in 1:35 scale, not a standalone model. It holds 280 mm shells of the R. Gr. 4341 type, that is another of the variants of rocket-assisted ammunition for the German K5(E) railway gun nicknamed Leopold. The metal projectiles have a perfect circular cross section and crisp transitions of detail that plastic parts lack at close quarters.
The K5(E) 280 mm railway gun served for shelling at long range, and a whole family of ammunition was developed for its barrel. Alongside classic high-explosive fragmentation shells there were also projectiles with a rocket booster, in which a small motor was lit during flight and stretched the range. The individual types differ from one another in the shape of the body, in the arrangement of the driving bands and in length, so on a model it is clear which variant it is.
Wash the metal before painting, degrease it and use a primer. Lay the paint on in thin coats so that the edges of the driving bands do not disappear. If you display the ammunition on its own, glue it with cyanoacrylate glue to a firm base — turned projectiles have noticeable weight. Fine dust from pigments and light wear on the edges will add believability to the scene.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
