The 1:35 wheel masking set for the German three-ton cargo truck (Opel Blitz) separates the tire from the rim with a precise cutout. The set is cut for the kit from Tamiya.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is a painting accessory, not a kit. The masks mark out the border between tire and rim that you would otherwise line with a brush. The cutouts are cut for the wheels from the 1:35 scale three-ton cargo truck kit by Tamiya.
On a truck the work with a mask does not end at a sharp line; the line is its foundation. First let the paint cure properly and take the mask off — weathering on a fresh film smears easily. Then work from the bottom up: the heaviest deposit belongs on the tread and into the flanks of the tire near the contact patch, thinning as you go upwards. The key is not to cover everything. If you level the whole wheel into one mass of mud, you lose exactly what you used the mask for. Leave at least a strip of clean rim visible near the center and a hint of the border at the tire band — the eye then reads the wheel as dirty rather than as a shapeless lump. Build the layers up gradually and thinned, so you can stop at any point. And settle on one direction of dirt: mud sprayed from below and forward, following the rotation of the wheel, looks more convincing than an even deposit from every side.
Prime the wheels, press the mask down all the way around and spray thin coats square from above. Remove the mask once the paint has flashed off, and start weathering only on a cured surface.
This is a masking accessory, not a kit. Paints, thinner and the target kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
