A printed diorama accessory in 1:35 scale. This is not a kit but a flat wooden floor pattern to be laid into the interior of a building or under the figures and the small fittings of a scene. A wooden floor is one of the few elements that carry what is called a guide to scale in a diorama: the regular width of the planks tells the viewer at once how large a space he is seeing. That is precisely why it pays to have it clean and regular, which is only achieved with difficulty by scribing it by hand.

Where it fits

A plank floor comes into its own in farm structures - in a barn, a shed, a hayloft or a makeshift shelter for equipment. Those are exactly the places where scenes from a country setting most often take place and where the floor is visible over its whole area. It will serve just as well as a base for a field workshop or makeshift quarters for a crew. The floors from the numbered range can be combined, and a scene gains in variety by it.

Usage tips

• Lay the scene out dry and only then trim the area to the shape of the plan.
• Cut with a new blade along a metal rule; a blunt blade will tear the edge up.
• Add small clutter into the corners and along the walls - straw, dust, splinters of wood.
• Darken the edges of the area; it will blend in among the surrounding materials of the scene by it.
• Test the varnish on an offcut before you use it on the whole area.
