An Aber 1:35 turned metal barrel for the 50 mm KwK 39/1 L/60 gun of the Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma armored car replaces the plastic barrel from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An Aber turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale for the 50 mm KwK 39/1 tank gun with a barrel length of 60 calibers, as it was fitted in the turret of the heavy armored reconnaissance car Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma. This is a detail accessory, not a kit of a vehicle.
The Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma was an eight-wheeled heavy armored reconnaissance car with all-wheel drive and steering at both ends, so it could reverse as fast as it drove forward. Alone of the 234 family it carried a closed rotating turret with the long 50 mm KwK 39/1 gun with a barrel length of 60 calibers, which gave it strength even against lightly armored targets. The combination of speed, range and respectable armament made the Puma one of the most valuable reconnaissance cars of its day.
A turned metal barrel is fitted in place of the plastic part from the kit. Cut off the plastic barrel as close to the mantlet as possible, level the seating surface and fit the metal part dry first, so that you can check the axis and any misalignment. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with a two-part epoxy; ordinary plastic cement does not hold on metal. Before painting, degrease the metal thoroughly and go over it with a primer meant for metal, or the paint will chip off. The muzzle of the barrel is drilled, so both drilling and cleaning up the mold seam fall away.
This is a supplementary detail set for modelers, not a kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
