A detail set from the Japanese maker Tetra Model Works in 1:35 scale for the German Bergepanther recovery vehicle in the Ausf.A version. There is no plastic and no model of a vehicle in the package - they are photo-etched parts with which you replace the coarser sections of the basic kit. The set is cut to measure for a specific plastic kit of this vehicle, so before buying verify that it corresponds to the kit you are building; it is not a universal accessory.
The Bergepanther is a recovery vehicle built on the chassis of the Panther tank. In place of a turret it carried an open superstructure with a winch, an anchoring blade at the rear and room for tools and a tow cable. The task of these vehicles was to tow away damaged or stuck equipment for which the half-track tractors no longer sufficed in weight. The Ausf.A version derives from the corresponding production series of the Panther chassis and in models it is popular precisely for the quantity of external equipment - the cooling grilles, the tool brackets, the sheet-metal covers and the cable mounts.
Work as you go according to the instructions of the Takom kit: the cooling grilles, the covers and the brackets are fitted before the hull is definitively closed. Separate the parts with a scalpel, make the bends in a bender and bend long sheets slowly along their whole length. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and on stressed joints consider soldering. Degrease the brass and spray a primer for metal, otherwise the paint will flake off the edges. Let the grilles show through when painting - a darker shade suits the area beneath them, so that depth arises. At the end a wash into the pressings, fine wear on the edges and dust pigments on the running gear and in the places that are walked on.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is intended to complete a separately purchased kit. Glue, paints and plastic parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
