1:35 German Fallschirmjäger + Donkey (2 fig.) is a resin set from CMK in which a casting of a pack animal stands beside a human figure. The pair is intended to complete a finished scene in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains a pair of castings in modeling resin in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of a vehicle or an aircraft; it is an accessory with which an already built scene, a display case or a diorama base is populated. The combination of a human figure and an animal is fairly rare at this size and it is precisely that which sets the set apart from the usual pairs of soldiers.
The pair consists of a standing figure of a paratrooper and a pack animal, that is a donkey in the role of load carrier. Both parts are modeled to stand on terrain, not to go into a cockpit or a hatch, so count on a flat or only slightly sloping surface on which both castings stand stably. You will seat the set most naturally on a road, a dusty path or a mountain slope, where leading an animal by the halter makes sense. Try the distance between the two castings dry: the hand of the figure and the head of the animal have to be at the same height and in one line, otherwise the scene looks as if the two figures had nothing to do with one another.
Resin figures are cast onto blocks that have to be cut off; on the animal the feeds usually run to the underside of the hooves and to the belly, that is to places with a thin section. Use a fine-toothed saw or a cutting burr rather than nippers, which will break a thin leg off. The parting line runs along the sides and on the animal it passes through the coat, so sand it over carefully and restore the texture of the surface afterwards with fine scribing. Wash the parts in warm water with detergent before clear coating, so that the mold release agent is removed. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; gaps can be filled with thicker cyanoacrylate or with putty. Always sand with respiratory protection.
First a thin base, a primer, which reveals any remains of the parting line and evens out the surface. The animal and the man are painted with different techniques: a coat gains modeling from a dry brush and glazes, whereas the cloth of a uniform needs the folds shaded through with a wash and the edges brightened. Leave the animal casting darker than you expect, as it will lighten noticeably after the dry brush.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
