This resin kit from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel captures a German field kitchen from the period of the Second World War. An inconspicuous but immensely photogenic subject: a kitchen with a boiler and a chimney belonged to the everyday life of soldiers and in a diorama it tells a story at once.
Field kitchens, nicknamed goulash cannons by the soldiers, provided for the preparation of hot food in field conditions. They moved together with the unit, drawn by horses or vehicles, and the large insulated boiler made it possible to cook even during the move, so the food was ready on arrival. The characteristic chimney and boilers make a field kitchen an unmistakable silhouette of the military rear, and for the viewer a welcome change alongside tanks and guns.
Wash the resin parts first in warm soapy water, remove the casting blocks with a razor saw and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; protect your airways while sanding. When painting, add pronounced weathering to the basic military shade; scorching around the chimney, traces of soot, chipped edges of the boilers and a dusty underside look very convincing. The scene is beautifully brought to life by a figure of a cook or a line of soldiers with mess tins.
It is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted resin kit for experienced modelers. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
