A set of two resin figures in 1:35 scale, tied thematically to the winter setting of the Ardennes. It is not a vehicle kit; these are figures that give a scene scale. The winter focus shows on the casting above all in the shape: more layered clothing, a blanket or a cape over the shoulders and an altogether bulkier silhouette than on a figure in a field blouse. Castings like these tend to be the most rewarding to paint, because they offer large surfaces with clear modeling.
The figures are cast in parts so that the relief gets into the mold from all sides; the head and hands tend to be separate. Every part is held on a casting block, which you cut off with a saw or a new blade, taking material off bit by bit on thin places. A mark from the block remains and a fine parting line runs around the casting; sand both over wet and check against the light. An uncleaned line is visible across the whole figure once the base is sprayed on and is then hard to put right. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent in advance because of the mold release agent. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; fill gaps in the joints with putty and sand them over, so that the transition is not visible in the paint.
Try the figure dry and decide which parts you will leave separate; it pays to paint the head and hands on their own. After the base, work in layers: the darkest tone as an undercoat, lighter ones gradually only on the edges of the folds. With winter clothing avoid pure white, as it looks harsh on a model; a light gray-beige tone is better, going over to white only in the final highlights. Build the skin up from a mid flesh color and do the small accessories last. Even the whole out with a weak wash and matte clear coat; a few stains and some mud on the lower part of the figure will settle it into the terrain.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a base and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
