A decal sheet for models of German military equipment in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for finishing a model. The difference from the rendering with frames is fundamental for the final look: here only the face of the plate is printed, so the decal adds no outline of its own and lets the frame already on the model come through.
The rendering without a frame makes sense wherever the plate on a model is rendered as a separate part - whether it comes from the kit, from a photo-etched set, or you made it yourself from thin plastic. A decal glued on with its own printed frame would in that case create a double outline that is immediately visible on a finished model. It equally suits cases where you want to paint the frame in a different color from the plate - for example in the shade of the vehicle's camouflage, as was common in the field.
Prepare a smooth gloss base; on photo-etched parts that means degreasing thoroughly, spraying primer and only then the color and gloss varnish. Cut the decal exactly along the edge of the printing, because the carrier film is not masked by a frame here and any overhang will show on a colored frame. Use a softener, let it dry thoroughly and unify the surface with matte varnish. We recommend finishing the frame in color only after the decal has dried, with a fine brush - the result is cleaner than the other way round.
