A cast resin kit of the heavy trench mortar of the German army of the First World War period in 1:35 scale. Given the material and the way it is worked, this is a kit for experienced modelers: the parts are separated from the casting blocks by cutting, they are glued with cyanoacrylate, and the castings have to be washed before painting. The set is a standalone model of the weapon, not an accessory to another model.
The Minenwerfer was a category of trench weapon with a short barrel, a large caliber and a steep trajectory. They were intended to destroy field fortifications, wire obstacles and shelters at short range, that is tasks for which flat-trajectory artillery was unsuited. The heavy version in 25 cm caliber was among the largest weapons of its kind: it was set on a massive bed, worked from a prepared firing position, and moving it required dismantling or an auxiliary carriage. Its characteristic features are the short thick-walled barrel and the sturdy recoil mechanism.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue; without that the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks away with a razor saw or a cutting disc; never break them off. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust is unpleasant. Glue with cyanoacrylate, on larger surfaces with an accelerator. A primer coat is advisable before painting and will at the same time reveal any imperfections. The model comes into its own in a simple diorama scene where the way it sits in a firing position is visible.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
