A jack with a capacity of 5 tons for German Second World War vehicles in 1:35 scale from AMMO of Mig Jimenez is a detailing accessory for the set of carried tools — a separate part, not a model of a vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
The accessory in 1:35 scale represents a mechanical jack of the middle capacity class from the equipment of German vehicles. It is not a kit and it is not a finished model of a vehicle — it is one particular item of tooling, added to a vehicle already built, to a diorama base or to a workbench in a workshop scene.
Jacks of the day had a combined construction: a steel body with a toothed bar and a lever, on a number of types supplemented with a wooden foot or a bearing block. It is exactly that combination of metal and wood that makes a small part a rewarding object for painting, because on an area the size of a fingernail two completely different surfaces can be shown side by side.
Once the casting remains are cut off, start with a dark base — a dark gray with a hint of brown serves well, and on it the metal does not look freshly machined. Underpaint the wooden parts in a light ocher and draw a thin oil paint in a brown tone over it along the grain; wipe the excess off with a flat brush. Bring out the metal parts with a dry brush in a silvery shade only on the edges, where the paint would be rubbed by the operator's hand. Finally, tie the whole part together with a dark wash, so that the recesses between the teeth of the bar stay dark.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and further material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
