A photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It is intended for a model of the German heavy tank Sd.Kfz. 182 King Tiger in the production form with the Henschel turret. The set holds the grilles and fine screens of the covers of the engine compartment cooling vents. This is not a kit of a vehicle but an accessory for exchanging the plastic parts.
The Henschel turret differed from the early turret in its flat front without a bulge and in simpler manufacture, which made it the standard on most of the vehicles built. The rear of the King Tiger hull carried a set of fan covers and intake openings whose grillework was of fine steel mesh. Injected plastic can only suggest that structure, because it cannot be pierced.
Sand away the plastic tops of the covers so that an open frame is left for the photo-etched part. Separate the pieces by cutting around the tab rather than by bending. Spray the inside of the engine compartment, or at least the surface under the grille, a dark shade so that the piercing looks deep. Glue the metal with cyanoacrylate glue and paint it only after a base coat for metals has been laid down.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
