This is a photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It holds the grilles and mesh screens of the cooling vents of the engine compartment for a model of the German heavy tank Sd.Kfz. 182 King Tiger in the variant with the Porsche type turret. It is not a kit of a tank but an accessory with which the plastic covers of the fans and the intake openings are replaced.
The King Tiger, also designated Tiger Ausf. B, was the heaviest German tank put into series service in the Second World War. It was powered by a twelve-cylinder Maybach engine, and its cooling called for extensive vents at the rear of the hull, covered with steel grilles and fine screens against drawing in dirt. Early vehicles carried a turret with a curved front, which in modeling practice is known as the Porsche turret.
Cut or sand away the plastic imitations of the grilles from the covers so that only the frame remains. Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and make the bends in a bending tool or along a metal ruler. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue at individual points, degrease the metal before painting and give it a base coat for metals. It pays to spray the space showing through under the grille a dark shade beforehand.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
