HEXA46 — painting masks for a hexagonal pattern 1:35 (Solid Scale)

A set of painting masks from the German manufacturer Solid Scale for spraying a camouflage pattern made up of hexagons. It is not a kit and not decals — it is an accessory for painting, which is laid onto a sprayed model and through which a second shade is applied. The result is a regular geometric structure with sharp edges, which is practically impossible to achieve freehand. The spacing matches 1:35 scale.

Use

• Spray the underlying shade first and let it dry thoroughly.
• Lay the masks out so that the adjoining hexagons carry smoothly over edges and hatches.
• Press the edges down all the way round; on geometric patterns bleeding shows most.
• Apply the second shade at a right angle, in thin coats and preferably in two passes.
• Take the mask off shortly after it has dried and store it flat for further use.

For modelers who want a clean geometric pattern with sharp transitions on a model in 1:35 scale. It suits hypothetical schemes and designs with a contemporary feel, where geometric patterns appear. The film is low-tack and will take repeated use, so it will last for a series of models as well.

If you want to soften the pattern, you can bring the whole surface together after taking the masks off with a very thin translucent mist coat of the base shade. The geometry stays readable, but the transitions will not look artificial.

Paints and glue are not included in the package. The model the pattern is applied to is sold separately.
