An injection-molded plastic model of the Hungarian 38M Toldi light tank in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a new mold with a finely rendered hull and turret; besides the plastic parts the box also contains photo-etched sheet and decals.
The 38M Toldi was a Hungarian light tank developed on the basis of the Swedish Landsverk L-60 chassis and built under license. It entered Hungarian service at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s and was used on the Eastern Front. As a light machine it was intended above all for reconnaissance and escort work; its light armament and armor matched the light tank category of its day and it quickly became obsolete against stronger opponents. Even so it stayed in Hungarian service for a considerable part of the war and some of the machines were later modified or rebuilt into derived variants.
With a tank it pays to assemble and paint the running gear, the wheels and the tracks before the hull is closed. Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting and spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Volume is added by picking out the edges, dark washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the chassis and the tracks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
