Photo-etched fenders for the Israeli M51 Sherman in 1:35 scale from Aber: the second part of the set for this vehicle. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set in 1:35 scale focused on the fenders of the Israeli M51 tank, a rebuilt Sherman. The maker carries it as the second part of the line for this vehicle, so it concentrates on the fenders and their mountings. This is not a kit but a replacement for plastic parts. A fender in plastic always looks disproportionately thick, whereas the etched one has a thickness that matches sheet metal.
After the Second World War Israel bought up a large number of Shermans and gradually rebuilt them so that they could match newer vehicles. The M51 received a French gun of one hundred and five millimeters caliber with a long barrel and a massive muzzle brake, a more powerful engine and a modified turret. Vehicles in this form fought in the Six-Day War and in 1973 as well, and their appearance differs markedly from that of the original American Sherman.
Cut photo-etched sheet on a hard surface with sharp etch scissors or a scalpel, and never break a part out. Make the bends in a bending tool or at least between two blades, so that the edge is sharp and in the right place. Degrease the parts with alcohol, glue them with super glue, that is with cyanoacrylate, and apply primer to the metal, otherwise the paint will not hold. Bend a long fender in one go along its whole length, and on an Israeli vehicle you can allow yourself damaged or bent pieces, because on the fenders in particular wear was normal.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
