1:35 A soldier kneeling on his right knee, a US infantry squad for the M1126 Stryker is a CMK resin figure from a range built around this wheeled carrier.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin figure in 1:35 scale from the maker CMK. The pose is specified exactly: the soldier kneels on his right knee, that is one knee and one boot rest on the ground and the figure has a low center of gravity. That destines it for the ground beside the M1126 Stryker wheeled carrier, for a dismounted group at the rear ramp or behind cover, not for the hull or a hatch. The figure belongs to a range of figures making up one infantry squad, so it can be combined with further figures of the same range.
The casting comes on a casting block. First wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent because of the mold release agent and let it dry. Cut the block off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the remainder down, and scrape the parting line along the outer side of the legs and arms with the edge of a scalpel. With a kneeling pose something else is key than with a standing figure: the figure has three contact points, that is the knee, the toe of the boot and often also a hand or a weapon. All three have to really touch the surface, otherwise the figure visibly levitates. Test it dry, therefore, directly on the base or terrain it is to go onto, and sand the contact surfaces down gradually until it sits without rocking. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and anchoring with a wire pin in the knee strengthens the joint markedly.
A kneeling pose covers the front of the torso, because the figure hides it behind the thigh and forearm. Devote your energy, therefore, to what is really visible from a distance: the back, the shoulders, the top of the helmet and the back of the legs. Undercoat the uniform with a base shade and pull the folds out with a thin glaze where they crease most, that is behind the knee and at the waist. Go only gently over the edges of the straps and pockets with a dry brush. Build the skin in three steps, a base, a brown glaze into the shadows and a fine highlight on the forehead and nose, and it is enough to suggest the eyes with a dark line under a magnifier. If you are aiming at a whole squad, mix the shade of the uniform in a larger quantity and keep it, so that all the figures come out of the same batch. Finally the knee and the boot get the same earthy tint as the surface beneath them and matte clear coat closes the whole off.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin casting. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
