About product

The real subject

The fast torpedo boats of the Kriegsmarine, known under the name Schnellboot, were wooden craft with a sharp wedge of a bow and torpedo tubes along the sides of the forecastle. They operated in narrows and along coasts, where their speed and small target could be put to use. The one-man craft that the name mentions alongside them were deployed in the last phase of the war and were operated by a single man. Both have cramped space and an open deck in common, where the crew is seen at close range on a model. That is precisely why a figure in such a scene decides whether it looks inhabited or like an empty model.

What the set contains

A figure of a sailor in 1:35, according to the name meant for models of fast torpedo boats and one-man torpedoes. The manufacturer states the number of parts, the material and whether the figure is standing or worked into a particular pose; the scale of 1:35 matches the usual range of models of these craft.

Building and painting tips

Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: polystyrene parts with cement for plastic models, resin and printed parts with super glue. Cut the surplus material and the marks of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down; on the hands and the headgear work in small pieces. Fill the gap between the body and the limbs with putty, otherwise it will show after painting. Wash and degrease the figure before painting. Paint from the bottom upward and leave the face for the end, when you no longer have to touch the figure anywhere. In 1:35 the face needs only a basic tone, a fine shading of the eye sockets and a light highlight on the nose and the cheekbones, as overworked detail looks harsh at close range.

Terms of supply

The model of the craft, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
