M.T.M. Barchino with crew 1:35 (Italeri) is a plastic kit of the Italian explosive assault boat of the Second World War, including crew figures and photo-etched parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from the manufacturer Italeri captures the Italian explosive assault boat M.T.M. (Motoscafo da Turismo Modificato), nicknamed Barchino, in 1:35 scale. The package also contains crew figures and photo-etched metal parts for the fine details. The model is built as a full hull and offers an elaborate cockpit and internal structure.
The Barchino was a small fast boat modified from a pleasure motorboat which carried an explosive charge in the bow. The pilot steered the boat at an enemy ship and jumped out of it at the last moment. Its best known action was the attack by Italian sailors on the British heavy cruiser HMS York in Suda Bay on Crete in 1941.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting; ship models are best appreciated on a stand. The hull is well suited to being sprayed with an airbrush, while the small details and the figures are finished with a brush. Washes and drybrushing will help the structure stand out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
