An injection-molded plastic kit of the American self-propelled howitzer M109A2 of 155 mm caliber in 1:35 scale from the AFV Club brand. The model offers a large traversing turret with a long barrel, a detailed hull and running gear. According to the manufacturer it includes a well-worked breech section for the gun, working suspension, photo-etched parts, a metal gun barrel, hatches that can be opened and a sighting instrument (a collimator). The tracks are made as one-piece flexible tracks; the decals cover two vehicles of the US Army.
The M109 is the most widespread Western self-propelled howitzer, taken into service in the 1960s and gradually upgraded many times over. The M109A2 version brought a longer barrel of 155 mm caliber, a reworked turret with a larger ammunition stowage and a number of changes for reliability. The vehicle combines the firepower of heavy artillery with the mobility of a tracked chassis, so that it can change firing positions quickly. It served and still serves in the American and in many allied armies.
Assemble the running gear with its working suspension and paint the interior of the turret, as far as the detail goes, before you close it up. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer and spray with an airbrush - the vehicle looks good in single-color olive green as well as in three-tone NATO camouflage. The patina is provided by a wash in the recesses, edge highlighting and dust pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
