This injection-molded plastic kit captures the American M42A1 Duster self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle with its twin 40 mm automatic gun in an open turret. The 1:35 scale model from AFV Club is intended to be glued and painted, and it offers a faithful rendering of both the chassis and the gun superstructure.
The M42 Duster was built on the chassis of the M41 Walker Bulldog light tank and carried a twin 40 mm gun in an open rotating turret. Originally an anti-aircraft weapon, it later made its mark in ground fire support and convoy protection, above all during the Vietnam War. The M42A1 version differed from the basic model in its reworked powerplant.
Assemble the running gear and the open turret first, as the detail of the fighting compartment will come out well there. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, apply a primer and spray the main shades with an airbrush. Bring out the open turret with washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
