This item is not a kit but a photo-etched add-on set. What it holds is brass fenders and the related sheet-metal parts, meant for a plastic model of the American tank you already own. Voyager Model is a Chinese manufacturer of photo-etched aftermarket sets for military subjects, mostly in 1:35 scale. The parts are developed for the Dragon 3544 kit.
The M48 Patton was an American medium tank from the 1950s which, in the M48A3 version, received a diesel engine, a new fire control system and other changes. The vehicle carried a 90 mm gun and was widely used outside the United States as well. On machines in the field the fenders were routinely damaged, bent or missing altogether, which is a rewarding subject for a model. A plastic fender, though, practically does not allow such treatment, because it cracks once thinned down and its edge stays too robust anyway.
Brass allows what plastic does not. A fender can be bent, torn with fine scissors or simply have a missing section cut away, and the edge then looks faithfully thin. Work with feeling; exaggerated crumpling looks unnatural, because in reality sheet deforms only where it is struck. When painting, metal is an advantage with the weathering too: worn edges can be rubbed through with a stiff bristle or a glass brush down to bare brass, which gives a different and more convincing effect than painting with silver. At the end, tone the exposed metal down lightly with a dark wash so that it does not shine.
The set holds photo-etched parts, not a plastic kit. The glue, paints, tools and the base model are not included in the package.
