1:35 Mosaic Flooring Texture Decals - self adhesive

A self-adhesive mosaic floor texture (1:35, MAiM)

A self-adhesive sheet with a printed mosaic floor motif from the MAiM brand in 1:35 scale. A mosaic is a surface that would be very hard to make by hand, because tiny tesserae in this scale would mean hours of work. A printed sticker, by contrast, transfers the elegant pattern onto a floor in moments and with a perfectly regular grid.

Where a mosaic suits

Mosaic floors are found in baths, villas, churches, cafes, arcades and on the staircases of apartment buildings, from art nouveau interiors to the first half of the 20th century. In a diorama it signals at once that this is no ordinary building, and it contrasts beautifully with rubble or military vehicles in wartime scenes.

Application and weathering

Trim the sheet to the floor plan, peel the backing off and press it onto a smooth, degreased surface; with a fine pattern take care to cut the edges straight. After a coat of matte or satin clear you can weather the area gently, because an earthy wash in the joints and a little dust in the corners will give the floor its age.

Who the accessory is for

• builders of interior dioramas in 1:35 scale
• modelers of urban scenes with more lavish buildings
• makers of ruins, where an elegant floor contrasts with the destruction
• fans of the MAiM texture stickers

The exact pattern and the size of the sheet are not stated here.
