A model of an armored infantry observation cupola of the Czechoslovak fortifications in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker ROP. It is not a model of a vehicle or an aircraft but a structural accessory intended for a diorama with a bunker or an infantry casemate. The cupola represents the characteristic steel armored element that protrudes from the roof of a fortification work and serves as a faithful detail for collectors of fortifications and for diorama modelers.
An armored cupola was a fixed or rotating steel casting sunk into the roof of an infantry casemate, which served to observe the surroundings and direct the fire of the main weapons of the work. In the Czechoslovak fortifications of 1935 to 1938 it was among the most prominent armored elements; the massive castings weighed many tons and withstood hits. The infantry observation cupola was one of the most commonly used types.
Clean the parts up according to the material, wash the resin parts free of mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off with respiratory protection. Glue the assembly according to the type of material (plastic with liquid cement, resin with cyanoacrylate glue). It comes out well as a bare or slightly corroded steel surface: a base of dark steel color and weathering with rust, dust and runs into the recesses and the joints of the concrete.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base bunker are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
