Pigs, 3 pieces (1:35) is a set of animal figures from the manufacturer MAiM for a village diorama in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
According to the name the set holds three pigs in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of equipment and not a structure, but animal figures with which you fill a pen, a yard or the space at a sty. Three pieces are a practical number: they let you create a group with the animals turned in different directions without the scene looking crowded.
A group of animals works in a diorama differently from a single piece — it creates relationships and movement. If you turn the animals in different directions and let one of them lower its head to the ground, the scene gains the impression of something happening at once. At the same time it holds that farm animals are an irreplaceable scale: from them a viewer estimates the size of a building, a fence and the equipment. The motif is neutral in period and suits vignettes across the eras.
Wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water before painting, let them dry and sand the parting seams gently. Paint each animal a little differently — a slightly different base shade, a different arrangement of the patches and a different degree of mud; an identical trio looks unnatural. Start from a pinkish flesh base, put a thin brown wash into the folds of the skin and pick the backs out with a dry brush. Make the patches with thinned paint and a soft transition. Finally add mud on the legs and the underside of the body, ideally in the same shade as the terrain of the base — that is what joins the animals to the scene visually. Cement them only once they are painted, as otherwise you will not reach the lower surfaces.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
