A photo-etched detail set for the Pz.Kpfw.V Panther Ausf.G in 1:35 scale is an accessory for a plastic kit you already own, not a model on its own. Thin brass parts replace thick-walled plastic and move the fidelity of the finished tank forward. The intended kit is Academy.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an add-on set of photo-etched metal from the maker Tetra Model Works, intended to improve a plastic kit of the Panther Ausf.G medium tank in 1:35 scale. The set is not a kit and not a finished model, it cannot be built on its own and it does not replace the base kit. Photo-etch is thin brass sheet from which the individual parts are released, bent and glued onto the model. Where injection-molded plastic has needless thickness for technological reasons, the model gains a material thickness that matches the scale, sharp edges and a legible surface texture. The exact extent of the set and the list of parts are given by the maker on the packaging. The parts are matched to the Academy kit.
The Panther Ausf.G was the last series-produced version of the German medium tank of the Second World War period. It differed from the older forms mainly in a revised hull with a simpler side plate without the cutout for the driver's hatch, reworked hatches in the front of the hull and a range of production simplifications. The main armament was a long 7.5 cm gun with a high muzzle velocity, and power came from a Maybach twelve-cylinder gasoline engine. Typical features of the machine were the steeply sloped frontal armor plates and running gear with interleaved road wheels.
Release the parts on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel, not by twisting. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool, or else between a metal bar and a blade, so that the edge stays straight along its whole length. Before gluing, degrease the metal with alcohol and lay on a primer made for metal; on bare polished brass the paint does not hold and peels off. For gluing, use superglue applied with a pin or a wire in tiny amounts, and on larger parts a slower-setting variant that gives time to position them. Once it is done, unify the metal and the plastic with a single coat of base paint, so that both surfaces react to the covering shade in the same way.
The add-on set is supplied unpainted, with no glue and no base kit. Verify before buying that the set matches the kit you own.
