A resin replacement for the plastic drive sprocket for models of the PzKpfw III tank in 1:35 scale. This is not a kit of the vehicle but a single running gear part. The casting is conceived as disassembled, so the individual parts of the sprocket are separate and are glued together only on the model. The advantage is twofold: clean teeth with no trace of the parting line of the mold, and the option of partly exposing the sprocket on the model or laying it beside the vehicle.
The suspension of the PzKpfw III changed during production and the drive sprocket was among the parts that existed in more than one production form. At the same time it is one of the most exposed elements on a finished model, because it stands at the front and almost everyone looking at the vehicle normally looks past it. Injection-molded plastic manages this part only to a limited extent, because the toothed rim is cast across the mold and the edges of the teeth come out soft.
First wash the castings in warm water with detergent; otherwise the remains of the mold release agent prevent the paint from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw, as snapping them off easily damages the teeth. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; plastic cement does not dissolve resin. Apply a primer before painting. When weathering, let a dark wash run between the teeth and carefully rub the edges with graphite or a dark metallic shade.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
