A turned metal detail set in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber. The package holds four shock absorbers intended for the Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank in the versions Ausf. H to N and for the Sturmgeschütz III assault gun in the versions Ausf. B to G, which stand on the same chassis. It is not a kit of a vehicle but replacement parts with which you make the running gear of a model under way more accurate.
The Pz.Kpfw. III was a German medium tank of the Second World War whose chassis with torsion bar suspension of the road wheels also served a whole series of Sturmgeschütz III assault guns. The bounce of the wheels was damped by hydraulic shock absorbers, and it is precisely these that this set offers - four pieces correspond to two absorbers on each side of the hull. Injected plastic manages this small cylindrical part only in simplified form, whereas turned metal holds an exact profile, sharp edges and truer proportions. The difference is most apparent from the side, that is from the view the model is usually photographed from.
Cut the original plastic part off carefully and level the area so that the metal replacement sits down exactly. Glue the metal with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); ordinary cement for plastic will not hold on it. Fit the absorbers before the running gear is closed up and covered, otherwise you will not get at them any more. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a metal primer; then come the base color of the vehicle, a dark wash around the mounting and finally dust pigments, because the lower hull is always the dirtiest part.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
