Side skirts for the Panzer IV Ausf. G and for the Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär (early version) in 1:35 scale from Aber. A photo-etched metal detail set, not a model in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched detail set from the Polish manufacturer Aber for a faithful rendering of the side skirts (Schürzen) on models of the Panzer IV Ausf. G medium tank and of the early version of the Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär assault gun in 1:35 scale. The set replaces the coarser plastic skirts with thin metal parts.
The side skirts protected the sides of the tank and the running gear against anti-tank rifles and shaped-charge ammunition. The Panzer IV Ausf. G was one of the widely produced versions of this most widespread German medium tank, and the early Brummbär on its chassis carried a short 150 mm howitzer. Thin photo-etched skirts look more faithful than thick-walled plastic.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife, form the bends on a photo-etch bending tool and glue them with super glue. The skirts can be slightly bent and damaged for a battle-worn look. After spraying with an airbrush, rust, chipping and dust come out well thanks to washes and pigments.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
