Side armor skirts (Schürzen) for the Panzer IV Ausf. H, J and the Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär in 1:35 scale from Aber. A photo-etched metal detail set, not a model of its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched detail set from the Polish manufacturer Aber for a faithful rendering of the side armor skirts, the Schürzen, on models of the Panzer IV medium tank in the Ausf. H and J versions and of the Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär assault gun in 1:35 scale. It is not a vehicle model but thin metal parts that replace the coarser plastic skirts from an ordinary kit.
The side skirts protected the flanks of the tank and the running gear above all against anti-tank rifles and shaped charge ammunition. The Panzer IV was the most widespread German medium tank of the Second World War, and the Brummbär on its chassis carried a short 150 mm howitzer for infantry fire support. Thin photo-etched skirts look considerably more realistic on a model than thick-walled plastic.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface and bend them on a photo-etch bending tool. Use cyanoacrylate glue for attaching them. The skirts can be bent and damaged slightly so that they look battle-worn. After airbrushing, rust, scratches and dust come out well thanks to washes and pigments.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
