Side armor skirts for the Sturmgeschütz III, Ausf. G (early model) in 1:35 scale from Aber. A photo-etched metal detail set, not a model of its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched detail set from the Polish manufacturer Aber for a faithful rendering of the side armor skirts, the Schürzen, on a model of the Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G assault gun in its early form, in 1:35 scale. The set replaces the coarser plastic skirts with thin metal parts.
The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) Ausf. G was the most widespread German assault gun of the Second World War, built on the chassis of the PzKpfw. III tank and armed with a 75 mm gun. The side skirts protected the flanks and the running gear, and on a model they make up a prominent part of the silhouette, so it pays to have them as thin as possible.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife, shape the bends on a photo-etch bending tool and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. The skirts can be bent and damaged slightly for a battle-worn look. After airbrushing, rust, scratches and dust come out well thanks to washes and pigments.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
